2011 BMW X6
The 2011 BMW X6 is built for power and performance, but manages to keep its style. This crossover is designed with the power of a sports coupe but with the convenience of an SUV.
The 2011 BMW X6 is available in two trims, the xDrive35i and xDrive50i; both models are built with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. The xDrive35i uses a turbo-charged 3.0-Liter incline-6 engine to pump out 300 horsepower. The xDrive50i models are built with a twin-turbo 4.4-Liter V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower. Both models use an eight-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid model of the X6 is available called the ActiveHybrid X6. This model uses the V8 engine in combination with an electric motor and is able to pump out 480 horsepower. The transmission on the ActiveHybrid X6 is a specialized seven-speed automatic with manual shift control.
The BMW X6 xDrive35i comes standard with halogen free-form foglights, xenon adaptive headlights, and chrome exhaust tips and dual-power outside mirrors. Sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control and power tailgate are also standard on the xDrive35i. BMW’s iDrive electronics interface system as well as a ten-speaker premium audio system with HD radio is standard equipment for the media center.
The X6 xDrive50i adds to the xDrive35i with Bluetooth, navigation system with voice controls, and 14-way multi-contour front seats. The X6 also has numerous packages to add on additional features to both models.
The BMW X6 comes standard with multiple safety features, including active head restraints, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and hill descent control.
The power delivered by the X6 is not that of a heavy SUV but that of a sporty, smooth coupe. The look and feel of this crossover gives the sense of a 2-door coupe; but the storage space calls it an SUV.
