2011 BMW 5 Series
The BMW 5 Series has been remodeled for the 2011 model year and is designed with a supremely luxurious cabin, handsome styling inside and out, and more power than its predecessor.
The 2011 BMW 5 Series is equipped with a number of standard features such as power seats, power tilt/sliding sunroof, and power tilt/telescoping steering wheel. The standard media center includes a premium stereo system with 12-speakers, HD radio, and Bluetooth capabilities. Many available options can be added such as xenon headlights, active cruise control, and parking sensors with an automatic parallel parking system. BMW’s Gran Turismo body style is an available option on certain 5 Series trim levels. The Gran Turismo models are built with an expansive tailgate that allows for more cargo room similar to a wagon’s.
A number of standard safety features are found on all BMW 5 Series models including, active head restraints, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and BMW’s Assist emergency communication system. Electronic stability and traction control as well as 4-wheel anti-lock braking system are standard safety systems on all 2011 5 Series models.
The BMW 5 Series sedan is available in three trim levels and each of these models is built with a different engine. The base 528i sedan uses a 3.0-Liter incline-6 engine that pumps out up to 240 horsepower. The 535i sedan is built with a turbocharged 3.0-liter incline-6 engine that can put out 300 horsepower. The most powerful BMW 550i is built with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 400 horsepower. All BMW 5 Series models come standard with rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. An eight-speed automatic transmission is an available option on all models. The BMW 535i and 550i models are also available in all-wheel drive or xDrive as BMW terms it.
